Current Opportunities

Legislative Internship

Looking for a hands-on experience in state government? PLS is always looking for legislative reporting interns for semester-long stints at our Harrisburg office. Duties include covering committee meetings, public hearings and press conferences, writing stories on those events, and posting updates online. Interns will be compensated and we are willing to work to ensure academic credit is received when possible. Hours can range from 20-40 hours/week, depending on the needs of the intern, the schedule of the legislature, and the number of interns hired. The ideal candidate will have an interest in politics and/or the political process, excellent writing skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office and other computer suites. Reporting experience is a plus. We accept applications on a rolling basis.

This is a great opportunity to get involved with politics and the legislative process. The start date of the internship mid-January, and the program runs through mid-May. Desired Major(s) Include: Political Science, Journalism, and Public Administration.  Desired Class Level(s): Junior, Senior, and Graduate. Job Function: Government/Political.

Legislative Information Professional

PLS has an opening for a full time, high energy legislative information professional. Duties are diverse but include maintaining key information on our main product, the Capitol Toolbox, attending committee meetings and press conferences, compiling information for our Commonwealth Clips product, and assisting with live session coverage. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented team player who is able to multitask and work independently and is familiar with the legislative process. Prior experience of two years in Pennsylvania state government is a plus. Work hours vary with some evenings and all legislative session days required.
